In September 2006 the country fell to 195^th on the FIFA World Rankings, its lowest ever.^[1] By the end of the year, the Philippines moved back up to 171^st overall, after a good run in the 2007 ASEAN Football Championship qualification.^[2] They were able to win three games in a row which was a first for the Philippines and thus qualifying for the 2007 ASEAN Football Championship.^[3] Coach at that time Aris Caslib, aimed to reach the semi-finals with two wins at the group stage.^[4] The decision came despite Philippine Football Federation president Juan Miguel Romualdez stating that they would still be underdogs in the tournament and that they mustn't raise their expectations too high,^[2] as the Philippines have only won their first ever win of the tournament during the 2004 edition.^[5] The Philippines eventually failed to reach their target, only getting a draw in three matches. Their poor performances led to Caslib's resignation,^[6] as well as the refusal of the PFF to register and enter the qualification stages for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.^[7] They would be one of four nations, all from Southeast Asia not to enter after a record number of entries.^[8] However it was revealed that the decision not to enter the 2010 as well as the 2006 World Cup qualification was made during the PFF presidency of Rene Adad, whose term ended in 2003.^[7] Instead, the PFF wanted to focus on domestic and regional competitions.^[9] Since 2007, the Philippines have failed to qualify for a major competition. They came close in 2008 after missing out on the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup only on goal difference,^[10] and the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup with an inferior goals scored record.^[11] In 2010, they qualified for the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup, and went on to beat defending champions Vietnam during the group stage, becoming one of the biggest upsets in the history of the tournament.^[12] The team reached the knockout stage for the first time, eventaully losing to Indonesia 2–0 on aggregate.

Yani Gellman (born September 2, 1985) is a Canadian/Australian film and television actor.

Gellman was born in Miami, Florida to a Canadian father and an Australian mother; he was named after a family friend, writer Jan Joors. His father was a reporter, and the family frequently moved during Gellman's childhood, living in Australia, Spain, and Texas before settling in Toronto.^[1]

Gellman's acting debut was in a 1998 episode of the television series, Animorphs. After appearing in several more television productions, he was cast in supporting roles in the 2000 film, Urban Legends: Final Cut and in 2002's Jason X. In both films, his characters eventually became victims of serial killers. He appeared in 2002's The Matthew Shepard Story as Pablo, the love interest of the title character. Gellman became known among teenage audiences after playing the part of Paolo Valisari, an Italian pop star, in 2003's The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Most recently, he has been cast in the Canadian series Monster Warriors. He plays a lawyer, Rafe Torres, in the long-running soap opera, The Young and the Restless. In April 2009 it was revealed that the character of Rafe Torres was gay. Gellman has also appeared as a model in numerous print ads, including Omega watches. He made a cameo in Degrassi Goes Hollywood.

Gellman speaks Spanish, having learned it during his time living in Spain. He has a university degree in Political Science.

Final word on 2011 Color of the Year

Well, as I mentioned in my last post, today’s the day Pantone announced their pick for 2011 Color of the Year and what a surprise! The color name is Honeysuckle (no, not my golden yellow “Honeysuckle” that comes from the way our white honeysuckle blossoms turn with age), a deep pink-red. Here’s what Pantone had to say about the reason for their color choice:

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

This year, speculation sure seems to run the gamut! While I LOVE this color, I can see how it will be more popular in fashion and packaging than interiors. Pantone is suggesting it for walls in foyers and dining rooms because it’s such a happy color and also stimulates appetites. In kitchens, they suggested using it for accessories like placemats, glassware and other accents and even suggested painting your kitchen cabinets this color! I don’t know about that! I just can’t see my clients going for it, but never say never!

So to recap, Akzo Nobel was the first to come out with their color “Lime Twist” with a theme of “appreciation” (see my August 18th 2011 Color of the Yearpost), followed by Benjamin Moore’s “Vintage Wine” with their theme of “balance” (Update: 2011 of the Year & Color Trends post) and now Pantone’s very colorful “Honeysuckle” to “embolden us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor”! It’s all good, no?

More information continues to come from different sources reporting on next year’s color trends since my original post on the 2011 Color of the Year, back on August 18th. Interesting that Benjamin Moore chose “Vintage Wine” as thecolor for 2011 which they describe as a “rich hue with a deep brown base and a hint of smoky violet”. They chose a theme of “balance”. Although I like the color, especially as it is shown in their photo below; I must say, I think the international team from Akzo Nobel has a better handle on how people are feeling with their theme of “appreciation” and their lighter, airy, citrus yellow that symbolizes positive energy, hope and optimism. I know I am finding that more paint clients of mine are expressing a desire to “lighten things up”.

2011 Color of the Year

I’m happy to report that the international color trends research team for Akzo Nobel (the manufacturer of our paints) has already posted their annual Colour Futures book! Once again, it is a beautiful book with an exciting palette of colors that they predict we’ll be seeing in 2011. What I found most exciting was the key word they used to describe the overall influence for 2011, “APPRECIATION”! If you have been reading my posts and newsletters, you know that gratitude is the mantra I live by! Not only have I been keeping a gratitude journal for many years now, where each day I write down everything I’m grateful for, but lately everywhere I turn, I see constant reinforcement that there is nothing more powerful than the feeling of appreciation and gratitude. I know from personal experience, it is the major component in creating a life you love. Here’s what the color futures team sees as the colour future for 2011:

“This year we see a continuing move towards colours that are cleaner in character and much more optimistic and hopeful in the feeling they create. Shades for 2011 bring joy and charm to our lives and create an overriding mood of clarity and freshness in all palettes.”

So, what’s THE color they predict for 2011? It’s the wall color in the photo below!

This yellow has a lot of green in it and in person, is a good bit brighter than what comes across on my monitor. The color trend team describes its slight green edge as giving it newness and freshness, reflecting our appreciation of nature and man made materials. Both organic and technological, “Lime Twist” is surprisingly flexible and works beautifully with the rest of the 2011 colour palette they created. I especially like it paired with what they consider to be the “2011 Cool Neutral” known as Akzo’s paint color “Crystal Glimmer”, an ethereal gray much like our full spectrum “Lavender Mist”.

The Colour Futures book also contains trend colors from eight colour families that they have chosen as “2011 Key Colours”, along with coordinating colors for each palette. The other trend “2011 Key Colours” are: Red Red Rose (a juicy pink red), Apricot Ice (a stimulating crisp coral), Honey Frost (a zesty lemon), Fairy Tale Green (an electric blue green), Peacock’s Plume (a rich peacock blue), Midnight Cruise (a deep blackberry), Hiking Trail (a warm neutral brown).

Although color trends are very exciting, what’s trendy is not always timeless when it comes to coloring our interior spaces. You may want to add a bit of 2011 into your spaces with new pillows or pieces of painted furniture. However, I pulled several of our tried and true full spectrum colors that are similar: Celery, Limone, Cornsilk, Watermelon Red, Coral, Albania Teal, Sable and Lavender Mist. The Fantastic Four is a fictional superhero team appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The group debuted in The Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961), which helped to usher in a new naturalism in the medium. The Fantastic Four was the first superhero team created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby, who developed a collaborative approach to creating comics with this title that they would use from then on. As the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics, it formed a cornerstone of the company's 1960s rise from a small division of a publishing company to a pop-culture conglomerate. Blue moon 2009: a New Year's Eve rarity

At the end of 2009, a “blue moon” will preside over the annual New Year’s Eve countdown and accompanying ball drop in Times Square.
But what does this mean?
For most people, it will just mean a full pie in the sky Thursday night. A blue moon is simply the second full moon in month. It doesn’t actually have anything to do with color at all.
Usually, there’s only one full moon each month because the monthly calendar was built on the lunar cycle (29.5 days). But once every 2-1/2 years, those extra half days add up to two full moons in a month.
So where does the name come from?
According to NASA's website, the term blue moon was "used in much the same way we use the term 'harvest moon.' There were twelve names for full moons, one for each month, and the name blue moon was used in years which had 13 full moons."
But in 1943, Sky and Telescope Magazine erroneously wrote that the second full moon in any calendar month was called a blue moon. The label stuck and is still used today.
It’s relatively rare that a blue moon would fall on New Year’s Eve. The last time that happened was 1990, according to CNN.
Even more rare – there were two blue moons in 1999, one in January and one in March. That happens only about four times a century.
Interestingly enough, this is not where the expression “once in a blue moon” comes from. According to NASA, that phrase is believed to have originated in 1883 after the eruption of Indonesia’s Mount Krakatoa. The volcano put so much dust in the atmosphere that the moon actually looked blue in color. The event was deemed so unusual the phrase “once in a blue moon” was coined.

People in Colwich like to touch Chase Kear's arm or his shoulder with their fingers. Or they hug him. "Miracle Man," they say. "Let me touch the miracle." With anybody else in Colwich, this would be just talk. But it's not just talk to the Vatican.

Prompted in part by what the Kear family has said publicly, and partly by a preliminary investigation begun by the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, a Vatican investigator named Andrea Ambrosi will arrive from Italy in Wichita on Friday.

He will investigate on behalf of the church in Rome whether 20-year-old Chase Kear's survival qualifies as a miracle; whether he survived a severe head injury last year in part because his family and hundreds of friends successfully prayed thousands of prayers to the soul of Father Emil Kapaun, a U.S. Army chaplain from Pilsen, Kan., who died a hero in the Korean War.

Ambrosi, a lawyer by training, is coming here to thoroughly "and skeptically" investigate whether Chase's story is a miracle, said the Rev. John Hotze, the judicial vicar for the Wichita diocese. The church requires miracles to elevate a person to sainthood.

Hotze has investigated Kapaun's proposed sainthood for eight years, which is only a fraction of the time the church has been considering whether to elevate Kapaun to sainthood.

Soldiers came out of prisoner-of-war camps in 1953 with incredible stories about Kapaun's heroism and faith. Across Kansas, his memory is kept alive at Wichita's Kapaun Mount Carmel High School, in his hometown of Pilsen and elsewhere.

Kapaun is so well-known and so highly regarded by area Catholics that the diocese has received other reports of miracles involving Kapaun, Hotze said. Ambrosi on Friday will consult area physicians in at least three such cases, including Chase's, Hotze said.

Only two American-born people have ever been canonized as saints. For sainthood, the church will require at least one and possibly two miracles be proven on Kapaun's behalf, depending on whether he died a martyr, something the church is also trying to determine.

Among people that Ambrosi will consult on Friday will be Chase's neurosurgeon, Raymond Grundmeyer, who said in a brief e-mail last week that he considers Chase's survival a miracle.

If Ambrosi's report concurs, more church officials would still have to evaluate the case, but it would further a cause that Kapaun's fellow prisoners of war and Catholic Church officials have carried on for years: to persuade the church to declare Father Kapaun a saint.

"There is no doubt in anyone's mind in our family that Father Kapaun helped save our son," Paula Kear said of Chase, who is making a full recovery. "We were told at least three or four times in those first two days that Chase wasn't going to make it.

"Dr. Grundmeyer did a great job in saving him, but even he said he couldn't explain why he survived."

Father Kapaun

Kapaun was a chaplain assigned to the U.S. Army's Eighth Cavalry regiment, which was surrounded and overrun by the Chinese army in North Korea in October and November 1951.

Kapaun became a hero, rescuing wounded soldiers from the battlefield and risking death by preventing Chinese executions of wounded Americans too injured to walk.

He became a hero again in prison camp, stealing food for prisoners, ministering to the sick, saying the rosary for soldiers, defying guards' attempts to indoctrinate soldiers, making pots and pans out of roofing tin so that soldiers could boil snow into drinking water and boil lice out of their filthy clothing.

Hundreds of American prisoners died in the camp of exposure or starvation or illness that first winter. The Chinese guards did nothing to tend Kapaun when he became sick; he died in May 1951, two years before the war ended.

Soldiers who survived have praised Kapaun for decades; some of them have said he deserved not only sainthood but the Medal of Honor, in addition to the lesser Distinguished Service Cross the Army awarded him after his death.

Chase's accident

The Kear family says Kapaun's role in Chase Kear's survival 57 years later began about two hours after their son was injured.

Chase, a member of the Hutchinson Community College track team, fell on his head during pole vaulting practice in October.

By the time a helicopter delivered him to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus, his family was already frantically praying as they watched the helicopter land.

Within an hour of that landing, Paula Kear's sister, Linda Wapelhorst, was asking a priest at St. Francis to perform the Catholic sacrament of anointing the sick, which used to be called last rites.

And she was calling Sacred Heart Church in Colwich, asking people there to get everyone in the church praying to Father Kapaun for help.

In the following days, Grundmeyer and others had told the family that Chase's skull had been cracked from ear to ear, that his brain was swelling, and that either the surgery to remove a skull piece or the infection that might follow would probably kill him.

Paula and Paul Kear and dozens of other people made regular trips to the chapel at St. Francis to pray, always with the Father Emil Kapaun prayer.

The Kapaun prayer had become a standard for parishioners in Colwich since a priest from the parish had come down with cancer several months before.

"Father Emil Kapaun gave glory to God by following his call to the priesthood and thus serving the people of Kansas and those in the military," the prayer says. "Father Kapaun, I ask you intercession not only for Chase Kear... but that I too may follow your example of service to God and my neighbor. For the gifts of courage in battle and perseverance of faith, we give you thanks oh Lord."

What happened next, Grundmeyer said last week, was "a miracle."

The family agrees. Only a few weeks after Chase broke his skull, he walked out of a rehabilitation hospital, shaken but alive.

His near-complete recovery stunned all the doctors involved, Paul and Paula Kear said.

"Chase survived in part because hundreds of people prayed to Father Emil Kapaun to intercede on his behalf," Paula Kear said.

"It was absolutely a miracle."

Chase himself says he has little memory of what happened. For interested visitors, he will calmly part his thick hair with his fingers and show the long semi-circular scar that traverses much of the right side of his scalp.

He's working a summer job and plans to coach the pole-vaulters at the Hutchinson Community College. He misses vaulting; he's grateful to Grundmeyer and Kapaun.

"So how does it feel to be a miracle?" his mother asked him last week.

"It feels pretty cool," he said.

Pardon the cliche, but it's one of the holiest of Holy Grails of technology: Wireless power. And while early lab experiments have been able to "beam" electricity a few feet to power a light bulb, the day when our laptops and cell phones can charge without having to plug them in to a wall socket still seems decades in the future.

Nokia, however, has taken another baby step in that direction with the invention of a cell phone that recharges itself using a unique system: It harvests ambient radio waves from the air, and turns that energy into usable power. Enough, at least, to keep a cell phone from running out of juice.

While "traditional" (if there is such a thing) wireless power systems are specifically designed with a transmitter and receiver in mind, Nokia's system isn't finicky about where it gets its wireless waves. TV, radio, other mobile phone systems -- all of this stuff just bounces around the air and most of it is wasted, absorbed into the environment or scattered into the ether. Nokia picks up all the bits and pieces of these waves and uses the collected electromagnetic energy to create electrical current, then uses that to recharge the phone's battery. A huge range of frequencies can be utilized by the system (there's no other way, really, as the energy in any given wave is infinitesimal). It's the same idea that Tesla was exploring 100 years ago, just on a tiny scale.

Mind you, harvesting ambient electromagnetic energy is never going to offer enough electricity to power your whole house or office, but it just might be enough to keep a cell phone alive and kicking. Currently Nokia is able to harvest all of 5 milliwatts from the air; the goal is to increase that to 20 milliwatts in the short term and 50 milliwatts down the line. That wouldn't be enough to keep the phone alive during an active call, but would be enough to slowly recharge the cell phone battery while it's in standby mode, theoretically offering infinite power -- provided you're not stuck deep underground where radio waves can't penetrate.

MANILA, Philippines—It’s a day before the much-anticipated opening of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and already the Philippines has struck gold!
Meet our kitchen gold medalist, chef Ryan Jaranilla, senior executive chef, Olympic Catering Services Project of the Athletes’ Village in Beijing.

Tagasaan po sila(From where are you)?
Born in Iloilo, grew up in Manila. My father was with the Air Force and my mother a school teacher at Villamor Air Base. In high school, I went to Philippine Normal College, and college at UP Los Baños. I moved to California after Christmas 1991.

How did you become a chef?
I was working part-time in the Nutrition department of the Hospital of the Good Samaritan when my director encouraged me to take an AA in Nutrition Tech. After a year, a Filipino chef manager, Alex Jose, joined our team and encouraged me to pursue a Diploma in Culinary Arts.
After getting my culinary arts degree, I took a job in Lufthansa Skyschefs as food service manager and later became the chef manager of the Far East. I was handling all Asian Airlines such as JAL, Korean, Eva Air and PAL. But long hours and days took a toll on me, so I pursued a different area. I took a job as the chef manager for University of California in Santa Barbara, while on my days off I would do some catering.How was your climb up the “kitchen” ladder?
I came to California with no experience, so I started out as dishwasher. My job began at 10 p.m. and ended 4 a.m. It was hard labor. At the end of day, my hands would be chapped from water and detergent exposure. I had to walk seven blocks to catch a bus home, which came only once every hour. I also became a bus boy and waiter after that.
I never complain about work no matter how hard, and I always deliver. This is something I learned from my father, and it paved the way for people like chef Alex and chef Cecelia de Castro (a culinary school adviser) to throw their support behind me.
I am doing the same mentoring to some young aspiring cooks in UC Irvine. I just wish there was a Filipino cook among them. Someday, I will also open doors to young Filipino cooks. I’m working hard to make it happen.

Who are your kitchen heroes?
My father, the cook in our family. He would come home and cook every meal as my mother couldn’t even boil an egg. The other person is my grandmother; she is very meticulous in her cooking—even the vegetables should be cut the right way. She taught me how to develop my palate by making me taste everything she cooked and making me guess all the ingredients she used in her dish.
My fave chef is Wolfgang Puck. The man is very down to earth—not an inch of ego. Working with him was fun and unpretentious. He will give you a chance to make your own niche. He gets involved in the kitchen and will roll up his sleeves to get the work done.
You got to cook for the Oscars, the Grammys and People’s Choice Awards, right?
As a young chef, I found that fun and exciting. I worked that year when Julia Roberts won the Oscar and she passed through the kitchen to reach the Governor’s Ball. I was so shocked to see her in person that I dropped the chocolate Oscar I was placing on top of the chocolate mousse.
Danny De Vito came through the kitchen to ask for a second helping of lobster and to thank us for the dinner he really enjoyed.

How did you become senior executive chef of the Olympic Catering Services Project?
I was already working with Aramark (a professional service provider) during the Athens Olympics, but did not qualify in the selection process. So I called Human
Resources and asked them how I could make it to the next Olympics.
I started building my credentials within the company, took new projects and implemented a lot of company programs within our unit. I went back to school and added a certification in Catering Management & Event planning from California Polytechnic University.
So when the announcement was made for the Olympics Project, I had my credentials and was well-prepared for the interviews. When the final lineup was published, I was surprised that I got the senior position in the culinary department! There are seven senior executive chefs and I’m the youngest and the newest in the group. The rest are veterans of three or two Olympics.
What is it like to be an Olympics chef?
My friends and family think it is cool and prestigious. So it seems. It is a different story once the curtains are down and you are serving hungry athletes with different dietary needs. It is hard work, with long hours and no days off.
Every day is a different day. My day starts at 2:30 a.m. when I wake up for breakfast, and ends at 7 p.m. when dinner has been served.
Then I get to sleep for four hours, as we are now on 24-hour on-call service. I got a call from my sous chef at 1 a.m., asking me if he could serve couscous salad to an athlete with a gluten-free diet, since the dietician was not around and I have a Nutrition background.
There are challenges in abundance. Communication is top on the list, as our Chinese cooks do not speak English. Also, a lot of the spices and ingredients are in Chinese characters without any translation. I would end up tasting all of them before adding them to my food preparations.
We do have translators, but their English is also limited. One time, I asked for saffron but my translator thought it was apron!
You will not believe it, but the apron ended up on top of the paella, because they thought it would serve as a cover like those on Chinese buns!
With a final count of 15,000 athletes and 7,000 media people, this is definitely not a picnic.

How many people are under your wing?
Our kitchen is like the United Nations. I have an executive chef from Belgium, six sous chefs from the US, England and Bulgaria, and 108 Chinese cooks. Language is only a challenge but never an obstacle as we have one common goal, to serve the athletes.
The other Filipinos in the kitchen are Ian Mendoza, a Filipino-Canadian facilities manager, and Norma Frias, sous chef.

What are your plans after the Olympics?
I will return to my home base, the University of California in Irvine. I will handle special projects for Aramark and will travel to different locations [in the US] or international units. Also, probably a visit to the Philippines.
Could you share a recipe that’s Olympics-inspired, or a signature Jaranilla dish?
When I learned we were serving Philippine mango in the Olympics, the first thing that came to my mind was Mango Crème Brûlée—a classic dessert with a Filipino twist.
I did Mango Pudding, Mango Tart, Mango Chutney, Mango Parfait, anything I could possibly done to showcase mango! The mango will always be the center of our fruit and dessert stations!

Mango Crème Brûlée
8 egg yolks.,1/3 c granulated sugar.,2 c heavy cream or Nestlé cream.,1 tsp vanilla extract.,¼ c puree Philippine mango.,½ c diced Philippine mango.,½ c granulated sugar (to caramelized top)Preheat oven to 325 ºF.
In a bowl, whisk yolks and sugar until thick and yellow in color.
Combine heavy cream and vanilla extract in a sauce pan and heat until hot but not boiling.
Slowly add the heavy cream into the egg mixture. Whisk until blended.
Continue to whisk mixture and add the puree mango.
Spoon diced mango into the ramekins and pour the mixture.
Pour the custard into the ramekins.
Place ramekins in a roasting pan with hot water bath.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or until edges are set but loose in the center.
Remove ramekins and chill for 3 hours.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar and blowtorch until sugar melts into dark shade.
For a more exotic presentation, scoop middle section of a cut mango. Place the crème brûlee in the middle and blowtorch to a caramelized top.

You know what's awesome? When you develop an unexpected girl crush on a celebrity you'd completely written off. This is what just happened to managing editor Annette and me after reading Allure's September cover story about Carrie Underwood. In it, the 25 year-old singer/ American Idol winner comes across as vulnerable, likeable, frugal, slightly confused and young. Which is so much more honest than when 20-something celebs try to pretend they actually know something or get all deep and pretentious about their "craft" and "life path." Sure, Underwood still looks freakishly perfect—super, super airbrushed, glossy, coiffed and skinny (she apparently has to maintain a weight of between 110 and 115lbs, so she records every snack she eats). NEW YORK (AFP) - With a fortune estimated at 35 billion dollars, Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the world's richest royal sovereign, and oil-rich Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi is far back at No. 2, Forbes magazine reported Thursday.

King Bhumibol, 80 and, at 62 years on the throne the world's longest-serving head of state, pushed to the top of the richest royals list by virtue a greater transparency surrounding his fortune, Forbes said.
It said that the Crown Property Bureau, which manages most of his family's wealth, "granted unprecedented access this year, revealing vast landholdings, including 3,493 acres in Bangkok."
Forbes called it a good year for monarchies, investment-wise. "As a group, the world's 15 richest royals have increased their total wealth to 131 billion dollars, up from 95 billion last year," Forbes said on its website.
With oil prices soaring, the monarchs of the petro-kingdoms of the Middle East and Asia dominate the list.
Sheik Khalifa, 60, the current president of the United Arab Emirates, was estimated to be worth 23 billion dollars, on the back of Abu Dhabi's huge petroleum reserves.
In third was the sovereign of the world's biggest oil exporter, Saudi Arabia. King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, 84, who inherited the Al-Saud family throne in 2005, came in with a fortune of 21 billion dollars.
The previous king of kings, wealth-wise, 62 year old Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of tiny, oil-endowed Brunei on the Southeast Asia island of Borneo, fell to fourth place with 20 billion dollars.
"The sultan, who inherited the riches of an unbroken 600-year-old Muslim dynasty, has had to cut back on his country's oil production because of depleting reserves," Forbes explained of his dwindling fortune.
Fifth was Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, 58, of another Emirate, Dubai, with a net worth of 18 billion dollars.
One of two Europeans on the list, Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein, 63, ranked six on the list with 5 billion dollars in wealth. However the bank that is a key source of his family's wealth, LGT, is under investigation by the United States for helping wealthy people evade taxes.
Qatar's Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, 56, came in at seventh, worth two billion dollar; eighth was King Mohammed VI of Morocco, 46, his 1.5 billion dollar fortune based on phosphate mining, agriculture and other investments.
Number nine was Prince Albert II of Monaco, 50, his diverse fortune in the southern European principality put at 1.4 billion dollars.
Tenth on the list was Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, 67, worth 1.1 billion dollars.
Rounding out the top 15 were: The Aga Khan Prince Karim Al Hussein, 71 (1.0 billion); Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, 82, 650 million dollars; Kuwait's Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, 79, 500 million dollars; Queen Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard of the Netherlands, 70, 300 million dollars; and King Mswati III of Swaziland, 40, with 200 million dollars.

Born November 9, 1978, Lopez's parents moved to New York City in 1972 from Nicaragua, where his father, Julio, worked for the government of the then-President Anastasio Somoza who was overthrown in 1979 after the Sandinista Revolution. CAIRO, Egypt - A 27-year-old Egyptian woman gave birth to septuplets early Saturday in the coastal city of Alexandria, family members and the hospital director said.
Ghazala Khamis was in good condition after having a blood transfusion during her Caesarean section due to bleeding, said Emad Darwish, director of the El-Shatbi Hospital where she gave birth.
The newborns, four boys and three girls, weigh between 3.2 pounds and 6.17 pounds and are in stable condition, Darwish said. They have been placed in incubators in four different hospitals that have special premature baby units, he said.
"This is a very rare pregnancy — something I have never witnessed over my past 33 years in this profession," Darwish told The Associated Press by phone from the hospital.
Darwish decided to carry out the Caesarean section at the end of Khamis' eighth month of pregnancy due to the pressure on her kidneys. He said Khamis, who already has three daughters, took fertility drugs in an effort to have a son.
Khamis, the wife of a farmer in the northern Egyptian province of Beheira, was admitted to the hospital two months earlier, Darwish said.
"From the initial checkup, I say that none of the babies have any sort of deformities or incomplete organs," Darwish said.
The woman's brother, Khamis Khamis, said even though his sister was trying to conceive more children so she could have a son, the family was astonished when they found out she would give birth to multiple babies.
"We thought about an abortion, but then we felt it's religiously forbidden. So we said 'Let God's will prevail,'" he told the AP by phone.
Egypt's health minister announced that the seven babies will receive free milk and diapers for two years, the brother added.

In the letter, which was sent Friday, NBA legal counsel wrote: “It has come to our attention that representatives of Hamed Ehadadi, an Iranian basketball player, may be contacting NBA teams to discuss the possibility of signing Mr. Ehadadi to an NBA player contract.
“We have been advised that a federal statue prohibits a person or organization in the United States from engaging in business dealings with Iranian nationals.”
The NBA is applying to the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control for a license that, “if granted,” the league said, would allow teams to negotiate with the 23-year-old Ehadadi. Until then, no franchise is allowed to do so.
Commissioner David Stern invited the Iranian national team to compete in July’s NBA summer league in Utah, allowing the team a pre-Olympics tune-up. When NBA teams started to show an interest in signing Ehadadi, Stern had league counsel begin the process of clearing a path through this complicated circumstance with the U.S. State Department.
After his most impressive game of these Olympics – 21 points and 16 rebounds in a 97-82 loss to Argentina on Saturday – Ehadadi, a center, said through an assistant coach, Mehran Hatami, “It is my dream to play in the NBA.”

Six Relationship-Ending Dating Behaviors

Finding the one to share a relationship with is a blessing. Once you've bonded with this special someone, keep in mind that respecting your partner's privacy and retaining trust are essential to maintaining a healthy relationship. If you cross certain behavioral boundaries that violate your partner's trust, you may cause irreparable damage to your relationship.
As a dating coach, I'm not usually a fan of hard and fast "rules" for relationships. I've, nevertheless, identified widespread behaviors which will likely end any relationship. So to help you ensure that you don't breach the "trust" boundary in your relationship, here are six detrimental dating behaviors that should always be avoided:

1. Prying into private info. If you suspect your partner of betrayal, does that give you the right to start reading your partner's email? To listen to his/her voicemail messages? To hack into his/her online profile? The answer to all of these is "no!"
You should never dig through your partner's personal emails or listen to your partner's voicemail messages.

2. Lying for the greater good. Lying is never good in a relationship, although we've probably all been guilty of doing it. Regrettably, you will end up digging a deeper hole for yourself when that lie is exposed, which is almost always inevitable. When caught in this situation, you end up hurting your partner anyway, and whatever you were trying to protect your partner from -- by lying to them -- will be even worse because of your deception. I recommend honestly communicating with your partner from the get-go.

3. Pulling a "James Bond." You should never snoop in your partner's private things (drawers, wallet, filing cabinet, or private records -- such as bank or credit card statements). Furthermore, nothing justifies snooping. No matter what you have a "hunch" about, snooping through your partner's things should never be pursued to confirm or deny your hunch. Your partner's possessions and personal records should be kept private unless he/she gives you permission to look at them. Spying on your partner is one of the most blatant violations of your partner's trust and will achieve nothing except having your partner never trust you to be alone near his/her things ever again.

4. Designating yourself "Magnum P.I." Another ill-advised way some people try to verify suspected bad behavior by their partner is to take on the role of private investigator by attempting to "catch their partner in the act" of doing something. Whether this takes the form of searching for your partner's car by driving by his/her house, work, or gym or it takes the form of following your partner in your car, this is something you should never do. Even if you have a convincing hunch that your partner is hiding something from you, stalking is the wrong way to address it. If your partner finds out you've been "tailing him/her" in your car, he/she will no longer trust you.

5. Sending others to do your dirty work. Don't ever send a friend or anyone else to gather information for you about your partner or to spy on your partner for you. This means, don't send a friend to go hang out where you know or suspect your partner will be. Don't have your friend try to eavesdrop on your partner's conversations in places he/she goes. Don't ask your friends to use their cell phone to snap covert pictures of your partner. All of these favors from friends not only violate your partner's trust, but also reveal your total lack of trust in your partner.

6. Checking up constantly. One of the biggest ways to reveal that you don't trust your partner is to manifest that distrust with paranoid and obsessive behavior. While calling your partner regularly is quite normal, calling him/her incessantly to "check up" comes off as obsessive and will drive your partner away. If, for example, your partner is unable to answer his/her phone for a few hours and by the time he/she accesses it he/she discovers you've called 50 times, you not only come off as being paranoid and obsessive, but you clearly communicate to your partner that you distrust him/her. Also, when you panic every time 10 minutes go by without a reply from your partner by a phone call or an email, it sends the exact same message.
So even if you have some type of "intuition" that your partner is hiding something from you, it's better to engage in a confrontation with him/her openly rather than searching for answers secretly. Even if your partner doesn't respond to your attempts to talk about it the first, second, or third time, chances are that you'll eventually discuss it -- and the outcome of voicing your suspicions honestly with your partner will always be better than if your partner discovers you engaged in any of the behaviors I've talked about.

I thought this was the end of our friendship...coz were facing small conflict like misunderstanding..., shes good to me and of corz I to her, she smiles..., laughs at my jokes..., try to understand me.., ahmmmmm...gives empathy. One time she enters my office and says .. "why your always laughs at me when you see me.., is there somethig wrong with my face.." I said.. nothing coz it was my habit to smile also with a person who wears a smile..heheheh.. I let her sit in a chair and ok...go on ...do what you wanna do... Shes typing her resume and I was impressed by her sample of it..its a curriculum vitae..nice and impressive style of format.. clean and awesome., so tidy. After she done she said to me ..ahhmm im finished.. "Ahh ..ok lets check it " I said.. its ok now and it was nice format haaa...very good..impressive. After that i didnt save it again in the PC's document coz i thought she saves it already there...it was my fault and after that i check..if her document is ok now in my server....but i found.., the one page only saves there.. I go back to her place and i check again her work but in unpleasant situation i cant open her document. She says what happen O God..i took an hour to finished tha and it turn into nothing.. O c'mon it must not.....O my God please make a way to retrieve it... "oohh Ok im trying Ok..." Next option i said ...do you have still time right... and our next solution is to type it again....
I let her tarnsfer to another computer and she said ok... The olny one thing i wrote this to my blog bcoz i cant forget what she says..."If your not my friend you'll have an embarrassment here now..." OMG .. I understand why... coz of her anger ...i concluded. 13 Things Your Waiter Won't Tell You

Skandar Keynes was born in London, the son of Zelfa Cecil Hourani and writer Randal Keynes.[2] His maternal grandfather, Cecil Fadlo Hourani, is a famous writer of Lebanese descent, and the brother of Albert Hourani, also a well-known writer and professor.[2] On his father's side Keynes is the great-great-great grandson of the famous biologist Charles Darwin, through whose paternal grandmother Mary Howard he is descended from Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk (uncle to both Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard) and thus from King Edward I. Keynes is also the great-great nephew of the economist John Maynard Keynes and the nephew of the historian and Cambridge professor Simon Keynes.[2] Through his great-grandmother, Hester Agnes Pinsent – the wife of Nobel Prize laureate Edgar Adrian, 1st Baron Adrian – he is also related to the Scottish philosopher David Hume.[3] He has an older sister, Soumaya Keynes,(born 1989), who has appeared in various productions for BBC Radio 4.

In this busy world were negatives vibes, auras, people sorrounds you, sometimes your customer, some are your friends..., peer pressure they said. You feel happy when someone acknowledge, smile and say thank you to you..when u did something good in their part. Let me share to you my experience here at Blue 11, one day in my busy schedule..smiles and accomodate my customer daily, assist in their needs inside our cafe...one day a girl came back, early in the morning in our cafe and ask if i found her USb in PC number 7.., I said: yes i found it there...at PC number 7... i thought u forgot it there? i said..grateful i found it..hehhehe.. She smiles at me and added... she told her friend she has to check the USb of where she left it..i guess in Blue 11... and her friend says: dont worry the attendant in that cafe is good and approachable dont worry im sure he'll give it to you the other day...., So amazing and impressive words i hear..it akes my day complete and i saw a clear aura and vibration..it feels good to be affirmed by my customer, though were'nt so close to each other... Thank God..!

When people in your inner circle become negative, pessimistic, competitive, jealous, or don't show you appreciation and/or encouragement, it inflames your own doubts and fears. If you're in a new romantic relationship, these reactions can come on suddenly; they may be familiar and ingrained parts of lifetime relationships that are so subtle, you may not even be fully aware of them. In either case, unsupportive reactions toward your date and you can pull you both back into being hopeless about love. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is a 2008 fantasy film based on Prince Caspian, the second published novel in C. S. Lewis's children's fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia. It is the second in The Chronicles of Narnia film series from Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media, following The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005). The four Pevensie children return to Narnia to aid Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) in his struggle for the throne against his corrupt uncle, King Miraz (Sergio Castellitto). The film was released on May 16, 2008 in the United States, in Australia on June 5, 2008, and on June 26, 2008 in the United Kingdom.

Work on the script began before The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was released, so filming could begin before the actors grew too old for their parts. Director Andrew Adamson wanted to make the film more spectacular than the first, and created an action sequence not in the novel to up the ante. The Narnians were designed to look wilder as they have been hiding from persecution, to stress the darker tone of the sequel. The filmmakers also took a Spanish influence for the antagonistic race of the Telmarines. Filming began in February 2007 in New Zealand, but unlike the previous film, the majority of shooting took place in Central Europe, because of the larger sets available in those countries. To keep costs down, Adamson chose to base post-production in the UK, because of recent tax credits there.

paper mill, and her mother, Carole, was an elementary school teacher. Underwood is the youngest of three sisters. Shanna is 13 years older and Stephanie is 10 years older. Underwood was just 4 years old when Shanna moved out on her own but says her siblings have always been there for her.

Music didn't run in the family, but Underwood started singing at church when she was 3. Once she was in school, she sang solo roles in student plays. "Why should I hire you?"
This is the classic question most of us hear during an interview. It's often preceded by the phrase, "I've already interviewed another person for this position who looks perfect." Then comes the killer question, "Why should I hire YOU?"
Be careful to avoid clever retorts or comedic one-liners here. Your interview is serious business and a wrong answer will send you packing. This is, in fact, the one question that interviewers like to ask because the answer can so easily separate the contenders from the also-rans. Give a wrong answer and the large "Game Over" sign flashes above your head.
The 'Story' Approach
What they really want to know is, "How are you different than all the other candidates who have applied for this position?" With this in mind, a good way to approach your answer here is to launch into your best "story" that answers this question, "Will you go the extra mile?"
Why is the employer asking why they should hire you? Because there are only five areas of interest that they have about you as a candidate:
Your skills
Your knowledge about the company
Your manageability
Your affordability
Whether you can go above and beyond your job description
In this day of "lean and mean" operations philosophy, employers are looking for employees who can think bigger and perform duties above and beyond their jobs.
Demonstrate Your Accomplishments
Realize that there will always be competing candidates with a higher skill level, more experience, more education/training, or even a smoother interviewing style. The one equalizer though, is the ability to demonstrate how you have risen above and gone that extra mile to accomplish an important task, complete the job or realize an important goal.
Here, you recant that story of exactly how you worked 60-hour weeks, acquired new skills, or whatever it took to distinguish yourself and meet the challenge head on to successfully make the sale, save the project or rescue a client. If you can monetize (put a dollar value on) the end result, your story will only be that much more dramatic.
Tell It Often
Knowing this ahead of time, it's wise to put in the time beforehand to work on your answer to this question. Pick your best example of how you went above and beyond in your job. Work on your story to perfect it. Set the scene, describe the challenge and describe your role and the successful conclusion. Use this as an example of how you use your particular set of skills in an extraordinary time to "give it your all" and produce a clear benefit to your employer.
Since no other candidate can duplicate your own personal story here, you'll make a memorable impression. Not only that, but quite possibly you'll pull yourself ahead of that "perfect" candidate who preceded you.

"Smile though your heart is aching" they said.....hahahaha its true.....especially when your love one is not around....but anyway lets go back to our topic...HAPPINESS....if I may ask you...what is the meaning of happiness to you?....Well definitely happiness is a portion that you`ve feel in your heart within...you do good to someome..., like giving kiss, brought back the lost thing to the owner, sign of the cross everytime you pass at the Miagao Church (one of the main attraction in Miagao, included in World Heritage Church), giving respect to your Boss, greetings to your mother and father when the night comes( Nay Tay..., Mayad nga Gab-i), good interaction to anybody....(even they may say your plastic...no I`m not thats the way I interact to my close friend.)....giving consideration to your customers..like giving respect to their oppinions and suggestions, saying thank you...everytime u lend there change, what else... when someone say yes to your favor, when someone affirmed of your goodness...many to mention the others...

7 Steps to Improving Relationships

Conflict is an inevitable part of life, but it need not always be painful. In fact, we all have within us the ability to sustain relationships even when we deeply disagree. When we reach our breaking point (as we all do), and need to walk away, we can do so in ways that make it more likely that we will come back together.

Here are seven ancient Talmudic steps to follow when confronted with a conflict. They create conversation -- not denigration -- and encourage us to talk about what matters most in ways that hurt the least.

1. Give Yourself a Break
Sometimes you need some distance-some time to cool off and reflect. But it should be just that, i.e., a limited amount of time after which you and the person with whom you are fighting agree to come back together and revisit the issues. A time out can be a great thing, as long as its design is to bring you back together.

2. Respect the Other Person's Dignity
The one whom you are in conflict with should never lose their value as a human being.

3. Experience Radical Empathy

4. Acknowledge Your Partner's Wisdom
Before we can be their teacher, we must first become their student. We must accept that no matter how wrong someone is about one thing, they are unlikely to be wrong about everything.

5. Know that Conflict Hurts Everyone

Even when we are right, we should always ask how we participate in creating and perpetuating the conflict. We all play the blame game sometimes, but it's important to point a thumb back at ourselves before a finger at the other person.

7. Remember, Being Right is Not Enough
Remind ourselves that the only real justification for conflict with those about whom we care is that it addresses an issue, which is central to sustaining the relationship over time. If it's just about being right, then it probably isn't worth it.

Work.....inorder for you to eat..and enjoy your labor..you have to work....it is important in our daily lives...In every work there are always..advantage and disadvantages..negatives and possitives..in a weak person..he focuses only in negative side of it..while the wise person focuses to both possitive and negative aspects of his work. You can do both work and fun...like me...im working in a computer shop...I`m very..thankful to my boss..Maam Sanda, coz she let me do what I want to do..with her supervision. I` glad to work in this company because I did`nt feel boring...there are many things you can do in computer to cheer up yoursef...like: playing neopets, checking my friendster, chatting in chikka, opening my email and reading comments from Manila Gay Guy..which I subscribe. Through computer, playing and focusing to your work is both fun...as long as you can handle it precisely. There are lucky instances...I had a customer his name is Earl(he wants me to call him) he has a wife working in dubai...and he wanted me to teach him how to sign up in Yahoo..for an email...coz his wife sends the important documents from her email to Earl`s email.. after we finished it all...printing etc..he gave me 50.00 for my tip..i refuse and say thank you...I`m so happy in doing it...coz its part of my work without expecting any return.

I feel blessed, lucky, grateful and happy...why...coz this day in unexpected time...one of my friend visits me here...in my office...and we start a conversation...it all started with RoseAnn`s friendster...i added him...for about a couple of days...i didnt expected he accepted my invitation plus...i discover bout her sister and being my friend too. We had a nice conversation this day,...bout the problem of his friendster account.....sadly i don`t know the answer bout it...he open some topic...i tell him bout my friend "nene" and he knew her....he shows me bout the story of his friendster pics....he won in Search for Mr. PMT `07 in their school...he ask me some questions like: you know "khianne"....yea i know...she`s my Co-PYM.....he said ok...what is PYM..i said ParishYouthMinistry...but me and batchmates quited this time..but PYM still continuos with different leader..I`m very thankful to God..coz even in this way, he makes me feel happy....

People around us are gifts from God....so we have to love them...take care of them...and were responsible for them...showing love or kindness to a person is so very hard, especially when there is no bond between them...loving and giving love must be mutual, or sometimes love can sacrifice..like "ill give you something but I didn`t expect the return"...as of now in my life I may say..i loved god..coz he gaves me everything i want, i need and love..He gave me Kyle my boyfriend...and through his grace were 1year and 2months as of now...A loving, understanding, full of patience and caring honybunch.
